Treat Your Own Back Pain

Treat Your Own Back Pain is set to be a leading website in the UK aimed at self treatment and diagnosis of back pain. With the weath of knowledge behind it from renowned expect Martin Haines the website recreates a process of testing, evaluating and exercising that has been used by over 4000 individuals and proven on Olympic athletes, professional footballers and formula one racing drivers.

I joined this project after the initial agreement on the scope and scale of the project. After this I took the role of lead developer and designed and implemented the majority of the software. Working with a front end developer and designer we managed to recreate this process.

The overall system produces a very dynamic result that can be used to model and take users through a small subset of a huge number of tests based on the results of the test and their results as they continue the exercises and follow the program. This effectively creates a very detailed and specialised expert system with a number of key features that set it apart from other systems. The user history is tracked and this effects the future exercises and tests, there is a full video management (allowing videos to be uploaded and then to demonstrate the tests) and generated PDF exercise sheets for the user displaying the exercises and tests they need to continue to help their problems over time.

The system is currently finished and working meeting all of the requirements and pending a final stage of usability testing and user feedback.
